  • The A/C at Westward Elementary in West Palm Beach, Florida failed causing the school to go without A/C for several days. This caused students to experience uncomfortable heat as they focuses on their studies. The teachers stated that their classrooms were so hot that everyone was dripping in sweat, causing the students to be upset and some even cried. A new water pump was installed, the Principal hopes this will last until their A/C is upgraded in a few months.

  • Python sightings have been reported in Golfview Harbour, a neighborhood in Boynton Beach. The python has been spotted by many residents of Golfview Harbour but none have been able to take a photo so the FWC and SFWMD will not come to the area. The python reported is approximately 12 feet long. This is the farthest east a python has been reported in Palm Beach County.

  • On September 2nd, 2017 a motorist named Kevin Scheinberg was killed in a hit and run on I-95 in Delray, Florida. It has been a year since the accident and the man has yet to be arrested. Reports show that the man was identified after his vehicle was at a body shop in Broward County but authorities still have not made an arrest. Hit and run cases are hardly ever solved. In 2017 there were more than 5,000 hit and run cases in Palm Beach County, Florida.

  • There has been a rise in crime in Alachua County from 2017. A majority of the rise is in violent offenses such as murder, robbery, and aggravated assault. A major rise is seen in car burglaries. It went from 341 during this period in 2017 to 479 in 2018. The rise is connected to an increase in offense by juveniles. More young individuals are committing crimes than before, this includes violent crimes as well such as murder.

  • Florida's lakes and rivers have become damaged due to excessive withdrawal of the water as well as little or poor regulation of discharge into the water. A cap has not been placed on the withdrawal of water from underground sources. Instead public leaders are using tax money to fund water supply projects. Most of the projects are costly and are flawed flow models.
